To achieve this goal, three research questions were established, being these the following: 1) What are elementary school students' perceptions about using Duolingo as a vocabulary learning tool? 2) What advantages do elementary school students consider in using Duolingo as a vocabulary tool? 3) What drawbacks do elementary school students perceive from using Duolingo as a vocabulary tool? A mixed method was employed to obtain both quantitative and qualitative results. This approach enabled the triangulation of the information to get a bigger picture. Three instruments were used for the data collection. A pre-test and a post-test to evaluate students’ knowledge before and after using Duolingo. A survey to know students' opinions and perceptions regarding the app and a focus group to obtain qualitative data. The results indicate that using Duolingo had a positive impact on students' vocabulary development, and although there were a few characteristics they did not like, students demonstrated general acceptance and satisfaction with the app".pdfengHUMANIDADES Y CIENCIAS DE LA CONDUCTAInglés--Estudio y enseñanza (Primaria)--Hablantes extranjerosVocabulario--Estudio y enseñanzaEstrategias de aprendizajeTecnología educativaEnseñanza asistida por computadora--EvaluaciónAssessing the Duolingo app as a vocabulary learning tool for elementary school studentsTesis de licenciaturaopenAccess
