According to Kellerman (1992) listening as verbal information is usually complemented with non-verbal information such as; visual annotations or pictures, which most of the time help listeners to understand better information. Verbal explanations alone are worse in instructional learning process than explanations presented with multimedia annotations. (Mayer, 2001).In a study of listening comprehension made in Theran, Iran University of Medical Sciences with a group of 120 upper intermediate students was used a procedure, in which students watched pictures linked with the audio content at the same time that the audio was recorded. The result of this study was that the use of visual aids enhanced students‟ ability to comprehend listening materials (Kellog, 1971). On the other hand, a study about the effective learning strategies in listening comprehension made in the Department of English language and literature, Soonchuyiang University used 164 students to answer a questionnaire about learning strategies to develop English language learning and the result was that successful students in listening comprehension used more learning strategies than others".engHUMANIDADES Y CIENCIAS DE LA CONDUCTAInglés--Estudio y enseñanza (Educación media superior)Inglés--Estudio y enseñanza--InvestigaciónInglés--Estudio y enseñanza--Auxiliares audiovisualesEducación--Materiales audiovisualesAprendizaje visualOptimizing listening comprehension using visual aidsTesis de licenciaturaopenAccess
