By October 2014, only two students out of twenty of this cohort got the English certification. This affects the students, me as their English teacher as well as the administrators of the BUAP because these students have not been able to graduate because of the English certification requirement. . This study aims to analyze these periphery students‟ ELAHS II scores as well as to explore seven students‟ reflections and interviews to identify their beliefs regarding English learning and English graduation requirement using a contextual approach (Barcelos, 2003).
