Among the shamanic practices of the Sierra Nevada region of the Central Mexican Plateau, that of the rayados stands out. These are people that, after being struck by lightning, begin a new life as healers and rain propitiators. Having received this heaven sent gift, which marks their destiny, these rayados are able to cure sick people in their communities through the interpretation of oneiric messages and visions induced by the ritual consumption of psychoactive plants. This paper presents the case of Mr. Angelino Calderón, from the town of Hueyapan, Morelos, located on the southern hillside of the Popocatépetl volcano.
