Tesis de licenciatura Students' perceptions about significant grammar teaching and learning at' Presidente Cárdenas Secondary School(2016-08) Mirón Cruz, Yeimi Sherlin; MIRON CRUZ, YEIMI SHERLIN; 890802; RIVERA CUAYAHUITL, ELIPHELET; 221316“Over the years the teaching of grammar has remained as a central component in most english language teaching (ELT) classrooms worldwide. In Mexico, english is the most taught foreign language in schools and its influence has permeated most institutional curriculums across the country. The relevance of english in most fields of knowledge, has led local governments to incorporate English as a central component of official programs from elementary to university education. In public secondary schools students often face some problems in relation to the teaching of grammar in their english language lessons. The problem emerges when teachers teach the grammatical structure to teenagers (12-15 years) in secondary school. Most of the times students get bored in their language lessons, especially when they are presented grammatical structures. Very often the learning of grammar turns unpleasant and tough for learners. On the other hand the teaching of grammar has become challenging for teachers in the public system who normally cope with large groups, with between 40 to 50 students on average. At this point it is worth saying that in public secondary education in Mexico, groups are normally larger than 40 students and up to 60 students in some contexts”.
