Abstract
"This paper reports on an innovative action research project which focused on the use of TV
series to improve the acquisition of phrasal verbs. The participants were twenty-two
students from Target Language II at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla with
a pre-intermediate level of English.
Data was collected by means of a total of eleven instruments. Four adapted and four
designed handouts, two designed surveys and a designed test. The analysis of the data was
done with statistical graphs and tables, based on that; conclusions were drawn to identify if
the use of the adapted and designed handouts based on TV series promoted the acquisition
of phrasal verbs, as well as what considerations had to be taken into account when using
handouts as teaching materials."
