dc.description.abstract | "This study attempted to understand the characteristics of group work in English classes in a pre-service English Language Teaching program, also to know what the students’ perceptions are about it. A mix-method approach was used to analyze these students’ results in a questionnaire and a classroom observation. The results indicated that during group work activities in the three observed classes, often students worked collaboratively. It was observed that 90% of the teams were assembled by the teacher and 100% of the teams were formed by male and female. As well as, 90% of the assignments were clear and appropriated to the students’ level; so the environment was harmoniously. We observed a good participation, and good outcomes at the end of the activities. Lastly, the role of the teacher took an important part for getting a well group work results, due to the role of the teacher in collaborative language learning is a facilitator who must move around the class helping students and groups as needs arise.
