dc.description.abstract"When teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) different issues become relevant for teachers, in order to improve and facilitate the teaching-learning process. Especially when teaching ESL to children one of those issues, namely, attention becomes of paramount importance. This investigation explores the forms teachers of children at the elementary levels believe are the most effective and pertinent for gaining and maintaining children´s attention in the ESL classroom. This is a mixed-method case-study. The investigation utilizes data from eight elementary school teachers. Six participants are female and two are male. Their ages range between 22 and 56 years old and they all belong to private school systems. The instruments used to collect the data were two; first a questionnaire was administered and then an interview was applied in order to gather enough information that led to illustrative interpretations."es_MX
