Abstract
"This thesis reports on the results of a qualitative study concerning secondary students’
beliefs about collaborative work. The study was carried out in a Telesecundaria school in
Zacatlán, Puebla. Its primary aims were to know what students think about collaborative work,
how often they work in teams, how they get involved and to what extend they consider have
learnt from others while working together. Research data were collected by using observations,
interviews and stimulated recall. They were used in order to explore and attempt to understand
secondary students’ beliefs.
The research findings revealed most of the participants considered collaborative work as
a positive learning process through which they develop skills, learn from their classmates,
receive support, get along with classmates, among others benefits. This study attempts to
contribute to emphasize the use of collaborative work in the classroom."
