Abstract
"One of the main reasons of acquiring a second language is to have an effective communication process; this will be reflected in the communicative competence which involves linguistic competence, sociocultural competence, discourse competence and strategic competence. This means to know what to say, to whom, when it can be said and decide if the circumstances are the appropriate, all this in order to get the main purpose which is to communicate (Ellis 1994, Brown 1994, Richards & Renandya 2003, Canale in Murcia 1991, Bygate in Nunan 1991, Byrne 1996, Berns in Rodgers & Renandya 2003, Chastain 1976, Celce –Murcia & Olshtain 2000). In order to accomplish that goal it is required to know the language first, then to know how it can be used. When a person is learning a language it is probably that s/he passes through different stages because it involves a whole process, it is known as second language acquisition. Second language acquisition is defined by different authors as the language learnt after the first language or mother tongue (Ellis 1994, Gass & Selinker 2001, Saville-Troike 2006)."
