dc.description.abstract"The main concerns of this study are the English graduation requirement and how seven periphery students from the first cohort 2009-2013 of Tourism Administration of the University Regional Campus Cuetzalan of the BUAP face and view this requirement. By October 2014, only two students out of twenty of this cohort got the English certification. This affects the students, me as their English teacher as well as the administrators of the BUAP because these students have not been able to graduate because of the English certification requirement. . This study aims to analyze these periphery students‟ ELAHS II scores as well as to explore seven students‟ reflections and interviews to identify their beliefs regarding English learning and English graduation requirement using a contextual approach (Barcelos, 2003). Since students‟ beliefs may have a significant influence in the language learning process and therefore in the students‟ achievement (Abraham &Vann, 1987)."es_MX
