dc.description.abstract | "Dictation has been used since the Middle Ages in monasteries to give lectures to pupils. Across the centuries, its usage derives from a testing device, a teaching method, to an activity to develop and improve language skills. However, recent studies have demonstrated its effectiveness in English as a Foreign Language. The methodology followed in this research was quantitative descriptive to measure the effectiveness of traditional dictation through statistical analysis. The data collected consisted of 16 dictation recordings applied to 29 Target Language IV group participants at the English Language Teaching degree from Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla. Furthermore, the study instrument was a pretest and posttest at the beginning and the end of the treatment to measure the effectiveness of traditional dictation. Moreover, a t-test was applied to identify if the difference of the two means, pretest, and posttest as well as Dictation 1 and Dictation 16, were statistically significant". | es_MX |
