Abstract
“Therefore, the purpose of the study is to understand corrective feedback as a phenomenon that fosters language awareness among LEI students to develop accuracy in their speaking. This research followed a qualitative cross-sectional research methodology; phenomenological research was used to describe the phenomenon of corrective feedback within the process of language development. The results show that contrary to what has been assumed, corrective feedback is a phenomenon that has not completely been understood by students and teachers as the findings indicate it is a complex process whose different aspects interact in different ways but simultaneously are closely related. In the correction process, features such as participation, interactions, the use of the English language, the corrective feedback strategies, the manner of the teachers’ feedback, students’ feelings and personalities, and the led uptake are all interrelated, and they have an impact on the students’ notions concerning the corrective feedback phenomenon. Therefore, the present research is relevant to comprehending better the teaching and learning process of a second language by providing an overview to understand the corrective feedback phenomenon to improve the development of speaking”.
