Abstract
"High school is the one of the stages where students are more sensitive and vulnerable to their surroundings, at that point in their lives they are full of energy, they look for new experiences and it is more difficult to accept or be accepted by other students. It is always normal for them to tell jokes or make fun of their classmates, but they do not know what their classmates are like, some of them may be more easygoing and others more sensitive so they can get hurt easily and take it personal. This condition may have a negative impact inasmuch on those students who are learning English because shy students will turn shyer, sensitive students will get more sensitive due to fear of being judged by their classmates. Learners’ affective factors are a matter of crucial importance in accounting for individual differences in learning outcomes. Whereas learners’ beliefs about language learning are likely to be fairly stable, their affective states tend to be volatile, affecting not only overall progress but responses to particular learning activities on a day-by-day and even moment-by-moment basis. (Ellis, 1994, p. 483)".
