EFL techniques and strategies for distance teaching in public vs private basic education during COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract
"The world faced a crisis when COVID-19 pandemic arrived, especially in the educational field. In Mexico, COVID-19 pandemic changed the way how teachers and students interacted in classes. This research explored the teaching strategies and techniques that English Foreign Language (EFL) teachers used during the COVID-19 pandemic in all levels of private as well as public basic education. Thus, based on the information obtained from the surveys, the background information from the participants of this study are divided into two categories. The first category is from public basic education and the second are from private basic education institutions. This study is qualitative descriptive research because it investigates the teaching strategies and techniques used by EFL teachers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The participants in this study were 6 EFL teachers, 2 from kindergarten, 2 from elementary and 2 from secondary school. Three of these participants belong to public institutions and the other three from private institutions. The findings of this study show that there are different teaching techniques and strategies used by all participants. Mostly, all of them were adapted by the EFL teachers who used them to improve and continue teaching EFL online".
