Abstract
"The purpose of this study is to explore novice english teachers´ beliefs toward special education. This investigation attempts to determine what participants’ judgment expressions toward handicapped children are. This is a discourse analysis study. There are eight participants in this investigation; five female and three male novice English teachers aged from twenty- two to twenty- seven years old. The instruments to collect the data were eight individual interviews. Open questions are analyzed utilizing the Appraisal System (Martin & Rose, 2003) categorizations in order to provide a more detailed illustration of the issue. Findings reveal that participants perceive special education as hard work and they seem to infer that they are aware of their (in) capacity to deal with handicapped children; despite the fact that they do not have it very clear how a disability may be defined. These findings suggest a deeper and more specific analysis and certainly awareness of the form educators’ deal or may deal in the future with this issue”.
