Abstract
“Metacognitive awareness helps students raise their awareness about their thinking processes. This could be helpful when learning a new language because students can use their knowledge about their learning processes to improve their skills. This study is an academic intervention focused on the high school student’s awareness of metacognitive strategies to improve their listening comprehension. In order to explore students’ awareness of their listening metacognitive strategies an adaptation of the Metacognitive Awareness Listening Questionnaire (MALQ) was applied before and after the intervention. Although results were not what expected, they demonstrate how factors such as time, age and motivation can have a great impact on understanding our own learning”.
